Despre Claudia

Paginile acestea nu sunt simple exerciţii de retorică. Prin aceste rânduri ne propunem să vă facem cunoscut şi apropiat un om care pentru cei mai multi va fi încă un caz medical, dar care pentru noi este o persoană, un coleg, un om tânăr şi valoros, aflat în acea etapă a existenţei când avem mai multe de dăruit celor din jur… Am dori să o vedeţi prin ochii noştri...

            Claudia Trifan este asistent doctorand al Departamentului de Lingvistica Romanica şi Limbi Iberoromanice. Unora dintre noi le-a fost studentă, altora, mai tineri, - profesoară. Suntem impreună de mai bine de 17 ani, de cand şi-a început studiile de filologie hispanică, după care ne-a devenit colegă. O viaţă profesională complexă, împărţită între cercetarea pentru teza de doctorat şi activitatea cu studenţii, avea să fie împlinită de aducerea pe lume a două fetiţe minunate, Sara şi Nora, de cinci şi trei ani. Claudia nu înţelege jumătăţile de măsură şi nu există efort care să o descurajeze. Aşa o cunoaştem, aşa este ea, plină de încredere, disciplinată, cu o voinţă de fier.

            Numai o lovitură brutală, devastatoare ar fi putut sa-i tulbure drumul. Se întâmplă uneori că realitatea urmează scenariul cel mai improbabil şi mai absurd: în decembrie, Claudia a fost diagnosticată cu cancer gastric extins în stadiu avansat. Cu o intervenţie chirurgicală riscantă, atât de riscantă încât succesul ei pare să fie de domeniul miracolului, a început lupta Claudiei pentru viaţă. În ultima lună a învăţat să trăiască fără organe interne a căror absenţă multora dintre noi le-ar părea incompatibilă cu viaţa. ”Sunt obişnuită să lupt, a şoptit cu greu, la câteva zile după intervenţie. Doar n-o să ma dau bătută tocmai acum...!” Si nu se da bătută, în fiecare zi, în fiecare clipă, de când a început calvarul.

            Ca o confirmare a faptului că lupta ei are sens, Claudia a fost acceptată într-un program de tratament la clinica Confraternitat din Viena. O terapie dificilă, îndelungată şi foarte costisitoare. Pentru Claudia, speranţa, viaţa sunt evaluate la aproximativ 150 000 euro. Uneori, în mod cinic şi nedrept, între viaţă şi dispariţia ei stau facturi, fişe contabile, mai pe scurt, bani. Împotriva acestei realităţi nici noi nu ne dăm bătuţi. Cum am putea, când avem în faţă exemplul ei? Claudia nu e singură şi în fiecare zi ajung pâna la ea şi până la noi semnele solidarităţii şi compasiunii celor care o cunosc şi o preţuiesc. Pentru noi ea nu e un caz, ci un om. Un om pe care solidaritatea noastră poate să-l aducă mai aproape de speranţă, mai aproape de lumină.

De aceea, ne-am dori să o priviţi o clipă prin ochii celor care o cunosc. Ca să puteţi vedea omul care are nevoie de semenii lui, omul care speră şi luptă cu demnitate. Să-i întindem o mână, e nevoie de noi toţi pentru ca speranţa şi viaţa să învingă.

These pages do not aim at being mere rhetoric exercises. These lines are meant to acknowledge and unveil a human being who for many will still remain yet just another medical case. Nevertheless to us, this is about a person, a colleague, a young and valuable human being, going through that age of life when we all have so much to offer to the ones around us… we would like you all to have the chance to picture her through our own eyes… 

            Claudia Trifan is a Phd student and teaching assistant at our Department of Romance Linguistics, Ibero-romance Languages and Literatures and Italian, at the University of Bucharest.  To part of us she was our student, to some other younger part – our teacher.  We have been together for more than 17 years now, ever since she began her Hispanic philology studies, after which she became our colleague. O complex professional life, divided between her research for her PhD thesis and her didactic activity with the students, which became fulfilled with the birth of her two wonderful daughters, Sara and Nora, who are now five and three years old. Compromise is has never been an option to Claudia, there is no effort to discourage her. This is how we know her, this is her, confident, disciplined, adamant will.    

            Only such a brutal, devastating blow could have disturbed her journey. It so happens sometimes that reality follows the worst case, most absurd scenario: in December, Claudia was diagnosed with gastric cancer, extended, in advanced state. Having been submitted to a high risk surgery, so risky that its success itself seems to belong to a miracle world, Claudia started her fight for life. For a month now, she has learned to live without organs inside her, the absence of which to many of us might seem incompatible with life. ”I am used to fighting”, she barely whispered, few days after the surgery. “How could I surrender now…”, and she is not surrendering, every single day, every single moment, ever since her ordeal broke loose.

            Her fight makes sense. She has been accepted to be treated at the clinic Confraternitat Vienna. A drudging, tedious, exhausting therapy and a very expensive one. To Claudia, hope and life itself have been assessed at approximately 150 000 euro. Sometimes, cynically and unfairly, between being alive or not is just a matter if one huge pile of invoices and accountancy files, in a word, it is about money. We are not to surrender to this, either. How could we, when we are given her example? Claudia is not alone. Signs of solidarity and compassion reach her every day coming from people who know and treasure her. To us all she is not yet just another medical case. She is a person, a human being whom our solidarity can bring closer to hope, closer to the light. 

Therefore, we would like you all to picture her for a second through the eyes of the people who have met her. So that you can see a human being who is in need of the help of her own kind, a human being who is hoping and fighting with a lot of dignity. Let us all give her a hand. We are all needed so that hope and life may prevail.
